Welcome to year 4! Our teacher this year is Miss Sawdon and our teaching assistant is Mrs Livingstone. This year we are all very excited to explore an engaging and interesting curriculum. We have lots of wonderful things planned this year so please keep checking our website and newsletters to find out more.
Year 4 homework consists of weekly spellings and times table practise. All new homework is given out on a Wednesday and must be handed in by the following Monday. Children will be tested on their weekly spellings and times tables every Wednesday morning.
Children are also given a new Key Instant Recall Facts sheet (KIRF) every half term which shows parents which extra maths basic skills the children need to focus on during year 4. Children are given time to practise all of these different skills needed, but in order to be successful, they will benefit from the extra practise at home.
There is a big focus throughout the school this year on ‘keeping fit’. Year 4 are already enjoying playing netball this term and learning lots of new skills. We are also taking part in running the ’10-minute mile’.
This year P.E is on a Monday afternoon. However, PE sessions may sometimes change, so please ensure PE kits are brought into school every week or left in school and taken home at the end of a half-term.
Year 4 have already enjoyed a variety of practical and exciting lessons. We will upload videos and pictures of our learning on a regular basis to Twitter so don’t forget to check frequently for updates! Follow CTK_thornaby.
