Year 3 – 17/18

Miss Dent

Mrs Thomas

In year 3 we envisage us to all work together, teachers and parents, to ensure a smooth transition into KS2 and to ensure each child leaves being the best they can be.

Welcome to the Summer Term in Year 3. The children have settled into KS2 brilliantly and we are working hard to become independent learners and have started to take responsibility for their own belongings.

In Year 3, all homework will be handed out on a Wednesday and handed back in the following Monday. Homework will include: spelling, times tables (3’s, 4’s and 8’s),  logical sequencing, and sometimes extra maths. We also expect children to read at home, with an adult, at least three times a week.

PE will be on a Thursday each week although PE kits should stay in school for the full half term. As we are now in the Summer Term please provide suitable outdoor footwear (trainers).

We are Scientists

Year 3 love being little scientists and carrying out experiments. This term we will be covering the topics of electricity, the digestive system and sound.

We are Writers

This term we have travelled to the enchanted forest and met many mythical creatures. Some of the most interesting creatures were magical unicorns, evil goblins and terrifying witches. We have learnt lots of ways to make our story stories exciting- we can’t wait to show you!

Our Global Goals

This term we are learning all about different Global Goals and how we can make a difference to our world. We have worked as children from Kolkata making paper bags (this was very tricky). We then had to sell our bags to the shop keeper, so we could buy food. Sadly, all of us couldn’t even afford the necessities. We now understand some people live.

Our RE

We are just coming to the end of our topic Energy which taught us about Pentecost. We have had a brilliant time creating music to represent the energy. We have also been very reflective and thought about how we use our special gifts.
