So far the School Council raised over £1000 for the school’s benefit.
We ran lots of stalls including: a stall for the Autumn Fate, a Christmas stall in school and in Stockton town centre as well as another stall in Stockton where we sold tomato based foods. With Little Sprouts Café, we learned how to make, price, package and sell tomato sauce successfully. We also created an Italian restaurant in school, where we all served pasta with tomato sauce to our family and friends (not forgetting the staff!). We raised quite a lot of money.
After that, we ran an Indian restaurant, hoping to get the same result as we did with the previous restaurant. We sold delicious chicken or vegetable curry and chapatti bread as a side. We also sold bracelets as well as giving henna tattoos to raise even more money.
Another venture was to complete a sponsored walk from Saltburn to Redcar along the beach – it was freezing!
More recently, we are able to give each class £100 because of our fabulous fundraising efforts. Years 3 and 4 have also benefited from receiving a Leap Pad 2.
A visit to Zoe’s Place in October was also provided with a cheque for £150 because there had been a flood in the building.
2014-15 Yearly Roundup:
The School Council have gone from strength to strength this year raising even more money for the school fund. The year started with a touch of celebrity magic as we raffled a guitar signed by Ed Sheeran. The introduction of ‘Toast Tuesday’, where the children pay 20p for a slice of toast has proven to be a great success. At the Easter and Christmas markets the School Council worked tirelessly to create attractive decorations and sweets to sell to the public. Finally, this summer we hosted our most successful event: Afternoon Tea! The cakes were freshly baked, the atmosphere was magical and the weather was perfect. Sadly the School Council must say a fond farewell to Niamh McGahon and Taylor Bradshaw. Both children have been model School Council members and will be sorely missed.
