Rights Respecting

We are a Rights Respecting school!

The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of a school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos.

A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers / adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.

In Febuary 2014, Christ the King’s commitment was recognised and we were awarded with the Level 1 Rights Respecting Award! – Level 2 here we come!

The Recognition of Commitment is the first stage and is presented to schools that:

Have a representative steering group composed of adults and pupils to guide, promote and develop the initiative throughout the school

Have completed their action plan and have it signed off by the headteacher

Can show they have put in place procedures for monitoring the impact of the initiative

Have introduced the initiative to the school community – all staff, pupils, governors and parents
