Foundation Stage 2H

Mrs Heerin

Mrs Burns

Thank you for visiting our class page.

We are 1 of 2 Reception classes in our Foundation Stage. Our Teacher is Mrs Heerin and our Teaching Assisstant is Mrs Burns.

We are just finishing our ‘Classics’ topic where we learnt all about special characters including Winnie the Pooh and Peter Rabbit. After half term our topic is Food, Glorious, Food.   We can’t wait to read lots of exciting books about food and try lots of different dishes. These books will include Don’t forget the bacon, Sam’s sandwich and Supertato.

Our PE day is Wednesday. We need a pair of red shorts and a white t-shirt. This year we are learning how to move in different ways across apparatus and jump off safely.

Characteristics of Effective Learning

In Godly Play this term we learnt about Baptism

This half term we had a Godly Play lesson with Mrs Boyes about Baptism. She explained how a new baby is Baptised and welcomed into the family of God. We each lit a candle to remember our own Baptism and told each other our special name.

We loved having a visit from an exciting storyteller

We had a visit from a storyteller and he told us the story of The Gingerbread Man. Afterwards we had a go at writing the story ourselves. Mrs Heerin was so impressed with our work. Some of our work was published onto Pobble.

Our Friend Oslo

Before Christmas we went to visit a Reindeer. His name was Oslo. We each got to hold him and have our picture taken with him. He was so soft and friendly. It really got us in the Christmas spirit.

Stay and Pray Advent

Before Christmas we invited our Parents into school to join us in a stay and pray session. We led our liturgy ourselves. It was a beautiful collective worship and our Parents enjoyed taking part. We look forward to inviting parents in again soon.

Outdoor Learning

We love to learn outdoors. The forest behind our school is a great place to explore and investigate. The possibilities are endless.
