Foundation Stage 2H
Welcome to Foundation Stage 2H. We are one of 2 FS2 classes. Our teacher is Mrs Heerin and Mrs Burns is our Teaching Assistant. Our PE day is a Tuesday so please make sure PE kits are in school every Monday. Most PE kits are now labelled but please make sure uniform is also clearly labelled. Children should bring a book bag to school every day and a clear bottle of water. Please make sure every item of clothing is labelled with your child’s full name.
This term our topics are ‘The Land Before Time’ and ‘To Infinity and Beyond’. These topics will focus on dinosaurs and Space. We will also spend a couple of weeks learning about Pirates. The summer term is always a busy term and will include sports day practises and a transition time for children to meet their new teachers and visit their new classrooms.
If you haven’t already downloaded the Marvellous Me app, please ask a member of the team. We send home lots of notes and messages to inform you of your child’s learning. We award your child badges and children really feel proud of themselves when they receive a Marvellous Me message home.
We had a trip to Newham Grange Farm. We all had a whale of time and a day we will remember for a long time.
At the start of Lent, we learnt about Ash Wednesday and we each received a cross made out of burnt palm leaves.
Our Lenten stay and pray with parents was lovely and very reflective. We listened to the Easter story and sang some lovely hymns.
In ICT we learnt how to use a QR reader. We used the ipads to scan the QR codes and each one showed us different pictures of animals. We had to record if it was a pet animal or a wild animal. We all LOVED this activity and chose to go back to it numerous times across the week. Children often find QR codes other everyday items and ask Mrs Heerin to scan it to find out new information.
We finished our last RE topic with a reflective collective worship. Children planned it together.
Music time! We made our own class band. Children experimented with the different sounds the instruments made.
As part of our ‘Helping Hands’ topic, Foundation Stage had a visit from Thornaby fire station. Firefighters spoke to us about all the things they are to do to keep us safe. We all went out to see the fire engine and even got to spray the fire hose.
We love exercising on the Trim Trail
We made poison apples, bonfire pictures and made potions for Halloween
Raising money for Children in Need with an own clothes day. We made Pudsey pictures and iced Pudsey biscuits
We started our year with ‘Happy Week’. We took part in lots of fun activities including a foam disco, water balloons, bubble blowing and muddy footprints.
